PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program of PGA REACH. PGA HOPE introduces golf to active military and veterans (including veterans with disabilities) to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being.
The Central New York PGA recognizes the great contributions and sacrifices that men and women who are currently serving or have served in the military have made for our country. We are serving our service members and veterans through PGA HOPE. The program introduces the game of golf through a developmental 6-8 week curriculum, taught by PGA Professionals trained in adaptive golf and military cultural competency.
All programs are funded by PGA REACH and supplemented by PGA Section Foundations (like PGA REACH Central New York), so the cost of programming is free to all veterans.
For the last five years, the CNY PGA Foundation has run multiple PGA HOPE programs for both veterans and active-duty military each golf season at Turning Stone Resort Casino. Now, through PGA REACH Central New York Pro-Am fundraising efforts, we seek to further enhance the benefits to veterans participating in the program and expand this program into the Oswego/Watertown/Fort Drum region and the Binghamton region.
In 2022, the Central New York PGA raised $5,025 during the sixth annual PGA HOPE campaign. Because the CNY PGA successfully reached its goal of $5,000, PGA REACH matched the $5,000 raised by the Section, giving the CNY PGA a total of $10,025 for local programs.
The first session of PGA HOPE for the 2023 season is underway.
ALL SESSION 1 CLASSES ARE NOW FILLED AND REGISTRATION IS CLOSED
The first session will consists of 6 classes starting in May and running through June.
My plan is to have 2 additional sessions throughout the year with one of them being a league format!
