The 66th edition of the Apogee Investment Management Championship will be held June 9-12. Round 1 of the tournament will be held at Yahnundasis Golf Club on June 9. The first tee time is 7:45 a.m.
The tournament starts with 113 golfers including players from three qualifiers and exempt players. Golfers who make the first round cut advance to the second round at Tuscarora Golf Club on June 10.
The third round will take place at Cortland Country Club on June 11 followed by the final round June 11 at Corning Country Club. This is the first time Corning CC has hosted a round of the AIM Championship.
Presenting sponsors for the AIM Championship are Apogee Investment Management and DeFrancisco & Falgiatano, LLP.
Here are a few storylines and players to watch:
*Luke Hobika: Hobika is looking to become the only player in tournament history to win the title six times. He is tied with Greater Syracuse Hall of Famer Walter Knych for the most PS Am title with five.
*Johnny Gruninger and Bill Moore: Gruninger and Moore are looking to complete the career Syracuse Triple Crown. Both have won the Gerry Ashe Memorial and the Syracuse District Amateur but neither has capture the third jewel in the Triple Crown: the AIM Championship.
*No repeat: Defending and two-time champion Jeremy Sisson will not compete in the AIM this year.
*Jackson Saroney: The Jamesville-DeWitt freshman, who competed in the New York State High School Championships last weekend, won the 2021 Boys Junior AIM Championship last August.
*Brad Monroe: Monroe, the reigning 2021 Syracuse District Golf Player of the Year, finished third last year. He also won the SDGA Amateur in 2017
