Team Mulherin captured the Tesori/Mulherin Cup with a thrilling 14.5-11.5 win over Team Tesori on Aug. 16. The season-ending competition for Central New York PGA Junior Tour players took place at Bellevue Country Club.
Members of the winning Team Mulherin were: Zach Cooper, Myles Kitts, Michael Brown, Nathan Hoham, Lindsey Chong, Kash Loomis, Cruz Loomis, Grady Tolhurst, Bryson Strohl, Owen Salisbury, Malia Works and Caleb Burns.
The competition was tight throughout the day and the Cup winner was decided on the last singles match. Boys and girls point leaders from the 2026 CNY PGA Junior Tour season and winners from the Junior Tour Championship were eligible to play.
Team Tesori players included: Rachel O’Rourke, Charlotte Brown, Cooper Coheno, Cooper Layaw, Colin Helmer, Alex Drogo, Elizabeth Thomas, Livia O’Rourke, Clara DeFillipis, Wes Seamans and Ethan Slate.
As in years past, PGA of America Golf Professionals Joe Tesori (The Pompey Club) and Linda Mulherin (Drumlins Country Club) served as honorary captains for their respective teams.
Besides the Central New York PGA, tournament sponsors included Bellevue Country Club, the Esther Cannizzo Junior Golf Foundation and NexGen Wills.
The concept of the Tesori/Mulherin Cup is a match play team event similar to the Ryder Cup. The event also was established to celebrate the accomplishments of CNY PGA hall of famers Tesori and Mulherin, who have played an integral role in junior golf for many years.
The tournament format consisted of 6 holes foursomes, 6 holes fourball and 6 holes singles match play. Each match is worth 1 point. ½ point is awarded to a tied match.
