After 38 years, Membership Director Trish Wheeler retired from the Central New York PGA this month.

In recognition of an outstanding career with the CNY PGA, the staff surprised Wheeler by dedicating an office wall, ‘The Wheeler Wall’, in her honor Dec. 12. The wall, painted white with red and blue horizontal stripes, features Folds of Honor recognition plaques and other awards.

Earlier this year, the Section membership awarded Wheeler with a framed 2023 Ryder Cup autographed flag and an engraved T Squared putter as a ‘thank you’ for her remarkable service to our members, the Section and the PGA.

Wheeler began her career with the Section working few hours a week for “a little something to do” when her two sons entered elementary school.  Over the years, Wheeler became an integral part of the Section office and operations. During her tenure, Wheeler and the section staff worked closely as a team for implementation and execution of membership activities. Wheeler also worked directly with CNY PGA Committee Chairperson overseeing the Hall of Fame, Scholarship, Special Awards and Member Club Programs.

For her contributions to the Section, Wheeler was named a Central New York PGA Honorary Member in 2017.

“Being named a CNY PGA Honorary Member is something I’m extremely proud of and will forever cherish,” said Wheeler, who resides in Camillus with her husband, Jim.

In addition to her regular duties, Wheeler coordinated the section’s Folds of Honor Pro-Am Tournament at Tuscarora Golf Club. Under the direction of Wheeler, the Section raised thousands of dollars annually which aids in educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women who have died or been disabled in the line of duty.

In retirement, Wheeler is looking forward to spending more time with her sons, Kyle and Scott, and their families, and her five granddaughters.

Thank you, Trish for your positive impact on the Section and its members!
