SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Anthony Maglisco put together one of the most impressive performances in recent AIM Championship history, leading from the opening round to the final putt to capture the 2026 Men’s AIM Championship by seven strokes.
Over four rounds contested at Green Lakes Golf Course, Cortland Country Club, Tuscarora Golf Club, and Oswego Country Club, Maglisco never relinquished the lead, finishing with a championship total of 8-under-par 277. His steady play throughout the week separated him from the field and culminated in a convincing seven-shot victory.
The recent Le Moyne College graduate entered the championship looking to improve upon his tie for fourth-place finish at last year’s AIM Championship. Instead, he took complete control of the tournament from the outset, showcasing the consistency that has made him one of Central New York’s premier amateur players.
When asked about the key to his success throughout the week, Maglisco pointed to the reliability of his driver.
“The best part of my four days was my driver,” said Maglisco. “I could lean on it all four rounds if I needed to get something out there, straight. ” While the quality of his golf stood out, Maglisco said the memories he will take away from the championship extend beyond the scorecard.
“Walking with my caddy the last four days was a lot of fun,” he said. “A lot of good golf being played, and he kept me focused”
The victory adds another significant accomplishment to Maglisco’s growing amateur resume. In 2024, he captured the SDGA District Match Play Championship, and with the AIM Championship now secured, only the Gerry Ashe Memorial remains for him to complete the coveted Syracuse Slam.
Maglisco’s success comes on the heels of an outstanding collegiate career at Le Moyne College. He ended the Fall semester with the best scoring average in the program’s history at 71.94 over 17 rounds, and his senior year with a 72.64 scoring average over 28 rounds at 12 events, including six top-10 finishes.
His AIM Championship victory was the culmination of a summer-long journey that began at one of four qualifying sites across the Central New York PGA Section. The Section extends its sincere appreciation to Teugega Country Club and PGA Professional Steve Campanaro and Matt Campbell, PGA Associate; Cazenovia Country Club Mark Tucker, PGA; McConnellsville Golf Club Tim Hume, PGA; and Sunset Ridge Golf Club and Andy Myers, PGA for hosting this year’s qualifiers.
The Section also thanks Green Lakes Golf Course and PGA Professional Jeff Carson, Cortland Country Club Kevin Morgan, PGA, Tuscarora Country Club and Jason Wall, PGA, and Oswego Country Club Michael Hogan, PGA for hosting the four championship rounds.
With the AIM Championship trophy now added to his collection, Maglisco’s attention turns toward the next chapter of his golfing career. He plans to relocate to Georgia in August, where he will caddie while pursuing opportunities to play professional golf.
A final thank you to our partners Kevin VandenBerg at Apogee Investment Management and Charlie Falgiatano at DeFrancisco Falgiatano Personal Injury Attorneys for making the 2026 AIM series the best yet. Next up, the Women’s AIM Championship August 13-14 at Crestwood Golf Club and McConnellsville Golf Course.
