The opening round of the 2025 Central New York PGA Senior Professional Championship teed off under clear skies at Timber Banks Golf Club, where sunshine and steady winds made for a challenging but fair test of golf.
Leading the way after 18 holes is PGA of America Golf Professional Dennis Colligan (Cazenovia Golf Club), who carded an even-par 72 to take a one-shot lead into the final round. Colligan, the 2024 CNY PGA Section Champion, showed poise and consistency on a breezy day that kept players on their toes from tee to green.
Hot on his heels are Bruce Martins (Elm Tree Golf Course) and Michael Deuel (En-Joie Golf Club), both finishing with solid rounds of 1-over 73. Deuel, the defending champion, remains well in contention to repeat.
Just behind them sits veteran Mark Tucker (Cazenovia Country Club) at +2 (74), followed by Eric Manning (Elm Tree Golf Club) and Jeff Reader (Cazenovia Golf Club), who share fifth place at +3 (75).
The final round of the 36-hole championship gets underway tomorrow at 8:00 AM, as the Section’s top senior professionals battle for the title and potential qualification spots in the 2025 Senior PGA Professional Championship.
