CNY PGA INDUCTS THREE INTO HALL OF FAME

The Central New York PGA inducted three longtime members – Linda Mulherin, Jack Conger and Stan Gorman — into its Section Hall of Fame Dec. 5. The ceremony took place at Drumlins Country Club during the annual CNY PGA Section Special Awards and Hall of Fame Banquet.

As the newest members of the CNY PGA Hall of Fame, Mulherin, Conger and Gorman were recognized for their contributions to the Section as well as their dedication to the game of golf.

Over the years, Mulherin (Drumlins Country Club) has established herself as an outstanding CNY PGA golf instructor, working with players of all ages and skill levels, especially young women. Through her many golf camps, junior programs, clinics and private instruction, she has helped hundreds of students improve their game. Mulherin has been the recipient of many CNY PGA awards over the years,  including being named Teacher of the Year 7 times.

Gorman (The Pompey Club) is highly-regarded a PGA Professional who has given back to the game on a number of levels. The former CNY PGA Golf Professional of the Year is also a past Section president, and committee chair/member. He is also heavily involved in the Folds of Honor which is focused on supporting U.S. military personnel, veterans and their families. Gorman joined his father, Tom, in the hall of fame to become the second father-son duo to be inducted.

Conger (The Links at Erie Village) is considered among his peers as a dedicated PGA Professional and golf instructor. A three-time CNY PGA Teacher of the Year, Conger is noted for creating a positive atmosphere to learn the fundamentals of the game for players, young and old, through his CNY Golf Academy.

In addition to the hall of fame inductions, the CNY PGA also presented its end of the season awards.

Dustin Jones (Beacon Golf Center) was named Golf Professional of the Year, the highest honor paid to a CNY PGA professional, for his overall performance at his facility, level of service to the PGA, leadership ability, image and ability to inspire fellow professionals and promotion of golf. Jones, the 2017 Bill Strausbaugh Award for contributions in mentorship, was recognized for his work ethic and passion for player development.

CNY PGA Executive Director Alan Seamans earned the Player Development Award for creating, implementing and supporting a variety of player initiatives within the Section.
