The Central New York PGA is proud to announce a new junior tournament this season – the Junior Apogee Investment Management Championships. The inaugural event for male and female junior players ages 12-18 will be held Aug. 19-20.

This premier event for juniors came to fruition through the efforts of AIM Championship sponsor Kevin VandenBerg, CNY PGA tournament director Joe Tesori and CNY PGA player development director Brittany Siechen as well as CNY PGA executive director Alan Seamans.

“Our goal was to create an event to showcase our best junior golfers in the area,” Siechen said.

The goal of the Junior AIM is to bring a new playing opportunity for junior golfers who have endured the cancellation of their high school golf championships because of Covid-19 including the 2021 New York State Public High School Athletic Association boys and girls championships.

“We created this event for the juniors of the CNY PGA that have had some events taken away from them due to the ever-changing Covid-19 pandemic,” Tesori said.

The first round of the tournament Aug. 19 will be held at Lakeshore 1860 followed by the final round at Beaver Meadows Golf Club. The new tournament is a junior golf scoreboard event. Registration is now open.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity for junior golfers not only to develop their competitive skills on the course, but to further their growth as individuals into better people both on and off the golf course,” said VandenBerg, a three-time AIM champion.

The Junior AIM is the fourth and newest event in the AIM Championship series. The CNY PGA also administers the AIM Men’s Championship in June, the AIM Women’s Championship in August and the AIM Senior Championship in July.

In addition to earning the honor of AIM champion, the male and female Junior AIM Junior champions will receive a Hurricane Tour Faldo Series Grand Final exemption as well as an exemption into the AIM Men’s and Women’s Championships, respectively.

Launched in 2021, the Faldo Hurricane Series is the largest and most impactful global junior golf partnership of its kind.  This new series is a collaboration between Sir Nick Faldo’s, Faldo Series, and the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, designed to showcase the top juniors in a competitive series that starts at a local level with 20 Sectional Qualifiers, then move to 5 Regional Invitationals, culminating with the Faldo Hurricane Series North America Grand Final where qualifiers will battle it out to be crowned Overall Champion.
