Players from the Central New York PGA triumphed over members of the Northeast NY PGA, 22-14, to win the Challenge Cup on Oct. 13. The event was held the Shenandoah Golf Course at Turning Stone Resort and Casino.
It’s the first time the CNY PGA has captured the Challenge Cup since 2017.
CNY team members were: Mark Tucker (Cazeonvia CC), Trey Walewski (Meadowbrook GC), Dennis Colligan (Cazenovia GC), Ryan McGinnis (Turning Stone), Kevin Roman (Life Member), Jason Gosney (Binghamton CC), Nick Serafino (Timber Banks), Joe Tesori (CNY PGA), Jeff Reader (Cazenovia GC), Rob Phelps (Vesper Hills), Will Weimer (Stone Creek GC) and Tony Saraceno (Genegantslet GC).
The Challenge Cup Match was a 27-hole event. The top 12 invited players from the CNY PGA Player of the Year Points list were paired against the top 12 NENY PGA players from their respective POY list.
Representing the NENY Section this year were: Scott Battiste (Eagle Crest GC), Eric Mabee (CC of Pittsfield), Bob Cain (Saratoga National GC), Chris Sanger (Woodstock GC), Noel Gebauer (Town of Colonie GC), Glenn Davis (Albany CC), Tom Oppendisano (Skidmore College), Jeremy Kerr (Mohawk GC), Keith Sprenger (Pioneer Hills GC), Anthony Therrien (Bookhaven GC), Rich Scott (Fox Run GC) and Christian Torres (NENY PGA).

*Second 9 – Chapman Format
*Third 9 – Four Ball Match Play
