Twenty teams competed in the second annual Central New York Women’s Association Championship which was held Sept. 18 at Oneida Community Golf Club. The event was an 18-hole, two-person team Ryder Cup format.
There were two age divisions. Shirley Hutchinson, of Sherrill, and Shelley Kron, of Oneida won the Senior Division with an 80. The duo won the inaugural event last year at Cazenovia Country Club.
Teresa Cleland, of Syracuse, and Monica Hamilton, of Cicero, won the Junior Division with a 72.
The tournament also held closest to the pin and closest to the flag contests.
Ruth Weydig, the head PGA Professional at Oneida Community GC, used the format to celebrate the upcoming 2023 Ryder Cup in Italy with a post-tournament Italian-themed dinner for participants.
Central New York PGA Women’s Association is an association aimed at elevating and promoting the game of golf for women golfers of all skill levels.
