Dennis Colligan capped off a stellar season with a victory at the M. Lemp Jewelers Cup held at Skaneateles Country Club on Oct. 5.

Colligan (Cazenovia Golf Club) carded a 1-under-par 70 to edge Ryan McGinnis (Turning Stone Resort Casino) by one stroke (even-par 71). Defending champion Mark Tucker (Cazenovia CC) and Joey Tesori (CNY PGA Section) finished tied for third at 74.

The key hole for Colligan was at No. 16. After carding a double-bogey on the par-3 15th hole, Colligan made up for it with an eagle on the par-5 No. 16. He finished with an eagle, four birdies, three bogeys and a double-bogey.

RESULTS

“I played the front nine pretty well (1-under 35),” Colligan said. “On the back, the par 3 were tough and the gully hole got me with a double bogey.

For Colligan, winning the Lemp Cup wrapped up an outstanding 2023 performance. He won seven individual events and 12 overall contests. Among his wins included the Head Professional/Players Championships and the Senior Section Championship.

Colligan finished the year with a 71.0 stroke average.

“I had a great year,” Colligan said. “I worked on my game a little bit over the winter and that helped. I tried to play in as many tournaments as possible. It was just a great year.”

The event featured the top 13 Central New York PGA  players from this year’s four major championships. M. Lemp Jewelers is a Section sponsor and partner.
