Dennis Colligan placed first in both the Central New York PGA Players Championship and the Head Professional Championship on Sept. 18-19 at Thendara Golf Club. The annual tournaments were held concurrently and were sponsored by Satch Sales, M. Lemp Jewelers, Prize Possessions and the PGA Tour.

 

Colligan, from Cazenovia Golf Club, carded an even-par 72 on Sept. 18 then fired a 3-under 69 to finish at 3-under-par 141 in the Players Championship. The victory earned Colligan $1,050 as well as Rolex Player of the Year points.

Colligan’s last Players Championship title came in 2015.

 

Colligan claimed the Head Professional Championship with a 3-under 69. His round featured an eagle on No. 10, three birdies and two bogeys.

 

Colligan earned an addition $850 for his first-place finish in the Head Professional event. He also won the Head Pro title in 2021.

 

The Head Professional event for PGA Members who are A-1, A-4, or A-13 was an 18-hole tournament held Sept. 20.

 

There was a three-way tie for second in the Head Pro Championship between Steve Campanaro (Teugega CC), Mark Tucker (Cazenovia CC) and Jay Turcsik (Mark Twain GC). All carded a 3-over 75.

 

Jon Petrin came in second in the Players Championship. Petrin used a 3-under 69 in the second round and finished with a total of 1-under 143. He earned $900. Tucker came in third (70-75—145).
