The Central New York PGA congratulates this year’s scholarship recipients: Catherine Dadey and Sophia Ferris. The Section’s Scholarship Committee awarded both Dadey and Ferris $1,000 scholarships toward their education.

The scholarships are available to children and grandchildren of PGA Members. Dadey is the daughter of Sean Dadey, PGA and Ferris is the granddaughter of Dave Ferris, PGA.

Dadey, 20, attends Syracuse University. She is majoring in marketing at the Martin J Whitman School of Management. Dadey, a former Section 3 golf champion at Westhill High School, has been surrounded by the game of golf her entire life. She has made countless connections and life-long friends because of golf in addition to lasting memories with former my teammates and competitors.

“I am extremely honored to have been selected for the CNY PGA Section Scholarship,” Dadey said. “This scholarship will be extremely helpful to me as I continue my academic career and hopes to study abroad in 2025 and hopefully will be lucky enough to play there.”

Ferris, 19, attends SUNY Cortland. The junior is majoring in Physical Education. Coaching and teaching the game to others is among her career goals as well as becoming a physical ed teacher.

Ferris is honored to have received the CNY PGA Scholarship.

“This scholarship is a chance to ease the burden of paying for college while hopefully one day becoming a high school golf coach,” Ferris said.

Congratulations to Catherine and Sophia!
