Bethany Wineburg and Carter Mizro won their respective divisions at the second annual Junior Apogee Investment Management Championships on Aug. 25. The 36-hole event for male and female junior players ages 12-18 was played at Camillus Golf Club for round one and Bellevue Country Club for the final round.

The presenting sponsors for the Junior AIM Championship are Apogee Investment Management and DeFrancisco & Falgiatano, LLP.

Mizro was tied for first with Jack Marquardt after the first round at Camillus with a 78. Mizro, of Auburn, earned medalist honors in the final round by finishing with a 76 to win the boys championship.

Mizro carded birdies on two par-4 holes, No. 9 and No. 11. He finished two strokes ahead of 2022 CNY PGA Junior Player of the Year Jacob Olearczyk, of Barneveld, (79-77—156).

In 2021, Mizro won CNY PGA Junior Player of the Year honors in the 14-15 age division and played in the Tesori/Mulherin Cup. This fall, Mizro is one of the top returning varsity golfers for Auburn.

Marquardt, of Skaneateles, finished third (158) while Jack Gregory, of Syracuse, (160) was fourth.

On the girls side, Wineburg, of Home, shot rounds of 89 and 91 to capture the girls crown. Runner-up was Evie Denton, of Rome.

Wineburg’s victory capped off a strong summer season. She also won the Junior Tour Championship for her age group (15-18) and Player of the Year honors. Wineburg will compete on the Homer varsity golf team this fall.
