Lauren Cupp shot an even-par 73 to win the Women’s Apogee Investment Management Championship by four strokes over defending champion Emily Gresham at the Cavalry Club on Aug. 2. The 2021 tournament was shortened to an 18-hole event after the first round at the Pompey Club was rained out.

Cupp picked up her fourth career Women’s AIM title by carding three birdies against three bogeys. The 36-year-old Cupp (Rome CC and Yahnundasis GC) also won in 2011, 2017 and 2019.

Winning the Women’s AIM never gets old for Cupp. She finished second last year behind 18-year-old Gresham while pregnant with her third child.

“This is one of my favorite tournaments to play in,” Cupp said. “It’s run beautifully. It’s one of the most competitive fields. I also appreciate playing some of the juniors which some of the other local tournaments don’t always include.”

Gresham, who graduated from Chenango Forks High School in June, edged Cupp by a stroke last year for the Women’s AIM crown. Gresham finished second with a 4-over 77.
