PGA HOPE Ambassador Eric Schuster attended the Oneida Nation’s 21st annual Veterans Recognition Ceremony on November 1 at Turning Stone Resort Casino.
Schuster, an Associate Real Estate Broker and Productivity Coach at Keller Williams Realty Syracuse, is a U.S. Army Veteran and the Central New York PGA Section PGA HOPE Ambassador.
Oneida Indian Nation hosted nearly 400 local veterans and honored them for their service at a breakfast. Guest speakers included Major General Gregory Anderson, commanding general, 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum and Vice Admiral Robert Murrett.
PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans to enhance their physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being. Turning Stone Resort Casino supports local veterans in several ways throughout the year, including offering free golf lessons for Central New York veterans through PGA HOPE.
In 2019, Schuster, along with 24 other Veterans, attended the Inaugural PGA HOPE National Golf and Wellness Week held in Washington. DC establishing the national PGA HOPE program.
Schuster’s military service occurred during the Cold War in the 1980s from 1982 to 1989.  He served with the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division, the 19th Support Command in South Korea, and as a member of the Long Range Surveillance Detachment (Airborne) with the 7th Infantry Division (Light) at Ft. Ord, CA.
His other volunteer Veterans duties include being a long time supporter and volunteer of Clear Path for Veterans.  He is also a member of the American Legion, Post 141 in Manlius, the Simon-Parise Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9596 in East Syracuse, the Non Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA), the Association of the the US Army Northern NY-Ft Drum Chapter and a member of Keller Williams Realty Military Community.
