The Central New York PGA Special Awards Committee determined the finalists for this year’s Special Awards. Below we recognized the achievements of the finalist for Teacher and Coach of the Year.
The winners in all categories will be revealed at the annual Section Holiday Party on Dec. 4.
This year’s finalists for Teacher and Coach of the Year are:
Jack Conger, PGA (Links at Erie Village)
Jack is open to new ideas and methods to teach players of all levels and abilities. To help his students improve, Jack uses a variety of teaching techniques such as the philosophies of Ben Jackson, Master Teaching Professional. Jack has also a certified AIM POINT instructor. He has won this award four times.
Bernie Herceg, PGA (Binghamton University)
Establishing a solid instructor/student relationship is important to Bernie, whether it be as the head coach of a Division I program or as Director of Instruction at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. Bernie incorporates technology with his teaching techniques to help students reach their potential.
Eric Lorenzetti, PGA (Turning Stone Resort Casino)
Eric strives to create a comfortable environment for students to learn. His approach to teaching is to keep things simple with relatable examples that students can grasp easily. Eric’s goal is to get student to understand swing concepts and know the difference between a good shot and a bad shot.
