Tom Fletcher (Tuscarora) took home the Apogee Investment Management Senior Championship title Aug. 4 in a rain-shortened event.
Fletcher shot an even-par 71 to lead all players in the first round Aug. 3 at Drumlins East. Heavy rain the following day washed out the final round which was to be held at Fletcher’s home course.
Ron Caiello finished second, one shot behind Fletcher at 1-over 72.
Fletcher’s victory added another senior title to his resume as he also won the 2015 New York State Senior Amateur at Onondaga Golf and Country Club. Fletcher was inducted into the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 and is also a member of the LeMoyne College Sports Hall of Fame.
Defending champ Jack Weinerth and Randall Powers finished tied for third at the 40th annual event. Weinerth and Powers shot a 73.
Mark Sgroi and Nick Della Penna shared the Super Senior title. Both carded a 3-over 74.
