Mark Tucker cruised to a five-stroke win in the Central New York PGA Section Players Championship and also placed first in the Head Professional Championship on Sept. 23 at Thendara Golf Club. Both section events were held concurrently Sept. 22-23.
Tucker (Cazenovia Country Club) repeated as the Players champion after turning in back-to-back rounds of 71. He led all players after the first round and finished 2-under-par 142, five strokes ahead of Ryan McGinnis (Turning Stone Casino Resort), Dennis Colligan (Cazenovia Golf Club) and Eric Manning (Elm Tree Golf Club). Manning also finished second last year behind Tucker.
In July, Tucker won the Section Senior Championship.
McGinnis, Colligan and Manning tied for second with a 3-over 147.
The 36-hole Players Championship earned Tucker $1,200 as well as double Omega Player of the Year points. Tucker also won the Players Championship in 2016.
Thank you to Joe Lanza who provided our tee gift from Cutter & Buck. They were the tournament’s presenting sponsor along with Prize Possessions and the PGA Tour as supporting sponsors.
Tucker defeated Matt Jaynes (Corning Country Club) by three strokes to capture the Head Pro Championship. The Head Pro for PGA Members who are A-1, A-4, or A-13 was an 18-hole tournament. Jaynes won the 2019 Section Championship in August.
