Jay Turcsik edged Eric Manning by one stroke to win the Towsley Open, held at Turning Stone Resort Casino’s Shenendoah Course on Aug. 28.

Turcsik, the head professional and general manager at Mark Twain Golf Course in Elmira, shot a 4-under-par 68 and earned $1,000 for his first-place finish. Turcsik finished with six birdies, including four on the front 9, and two bogeys.

This is Turcsik’s second win of the season. He also won the CNY PGA Pro-Lady in June.

Manning (Elm Tree GC) stayed within striking distance of Turcsik on the back 9. Turcsik’s two bogeys came on holes 15 and 17.

But Manning was unable to catch Turcsik. He carded only one birdie on the back (No. 14) then settled for par on his final four holes. Manning cashed $825 for second.

There was a three-way tie for third between Mark Tucker (Cazenovia CC), Dennis Colligan (Cazenovia GC) and Jamie Sindelar (RaNic GC). All three shot a 2-under 70.

Mel Baum (Wa-Noa GC) won the Senior Division with an even-par 72.
