Will Weimer, Co-Owner / General Manager at Stone Creek Golf Club, has
been named 2018 Central New York PGA Golf Professional of the Year. The highest honor paid to a CNY PGA professional went to Weimer for his overall performance at his facility, level of service to the PGA, leadership ability, image and ability to inspire fellow professionals and promotion of golf.
Weimer recently purchased Griffin’s Greens Golf Course in Oswego, NY with his childhood friend Scott Baker. The two of them have worked hard to make several improvements to the facility including changing the name to Stone Creek Golf Club. The 143 acre lot has provided Weimer an opportunity to do what he does best. He has created a welcoming environment for golfers of all skill levels to come out and enjoy the game. He has made sure the course continues to be an integral part of the local golfing community.
Always an early adopter Weimer has already introduced many PGA of America growth of the game initiatives at Stone Creek. His background as a teaching instructor has afforded him the ability to introduce the game of golf to all generations. He focused this year on working with young golfers with the implementation of PGA Jr. League Golf. This new, team oriented, fun and exciting way to play the game seemed to be the perfect match for Weimer’s philosophy on providing inviting golfing experiences. As Co-Chair of the CNY PGA Player Development Committee Weimer helped the Section expand its footprint to 30 PGA Jr. League Teams with 463 kids ages 7-13 participating. He was also instrumental in the development and implementation of the first annual PGA Jr. League CNY PGA Section Championship where teams from around the Section competed to advance to the Regional Finals.
His career development has afforded Weimer the ability to pursue his passion. He is a talented player and instructor with an innate ability to communicate effectively to players of all generations and abilities. As an Assistant Professional at Oswego CC he quickly realized that if people improve they will want to play more. This has been extremely valuable for Weimer who prioritizes relationships and building friendships above all else.
In 2014 Weimer was named CNY PGA Assistant Golf Professional of the
Year. He now joins his mentor John Fowler, PGA who he worked side by side at Oswego CC for over 10 years as a CNY PGA Golf Professional of the Year award recipient. John was named CNY PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 2006.
The Central New York Section PGA is excited to announce Will Weimer as
