2018 CNY Optimist Qualifier

 


On Saturday, June 9th the 2018 Optimist Junior Golf Qualifier took place at Sunset Ridge Golf Club. The top two qualifiers from each division advance to the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship at PGA National Resort and Spa, which is held on multiple dates at the end of July.

July 17-22: Boys 10-11, Boys 12-13 and Girls 10-12
July 22-27: Boys 14-15 and Girls 13-14
July 27-August 1: Boys 16-18 and Girls 15-18

 

On Saturday, the girls 15-18 teed off first knowing they needed to shoot 85 or lower to qualify. Claiming the top two spots happened to be the two sisters, with Nataly Avotins shooting 80 and her sister Solomia Avotins shooting 85. The boys 10-11 included only two boys, Porter Matt, who shot 90, and Nathan Brown who had 102. For the boys 12-13 division, Punn Chittaratlert and JT Thomforde were the two low individuals, both shooting a score of 79. The medalists for boys 14-15 included, in first with a 74, Ryan Lovelass, and in second with a 77, Adam Butch. For the oldest division, boys 16-18, the competition was intense with the results coming down to the final group. The qualifiers included, with a smooth 71, Matthew Barton and with a solid even par 72, Doug Matthews.


 

2018 season kicks off with CNY Junior Open

The Central New York PGA Junior Tour started its season with the CNY Junior Open held at Seven Oaks GC and RTJ @ Cornell. Lucia Chen captured the Girls Overall Championship while Nolan Crowley secured the Boys Overall Championship. For full results click here.

 


 

19-20 Boys & Girls Division Added to CNY PGA Junior Tour

The Central New York PGA is excited to announce that a 19-20 Boys and Girls division has been added to the Central New York PGA Junior Tour. This division will play a limited schedule throughout the summer. Participants will receive Player of the Year points in order to crown a Male and Female Player of the Year.

As a section we wanted to provide more playing opportunities to you as you got older. This will allow those of you who compete in college an opportunity to continue tournament play during the summer. For those of you who don't play college golf this will still give you an opportunity to stay engaged in the game.


2018 Junior Tour Schedule kicks off with Junior Open

 

 

On behalf of the Central New York Section of the PGA of America, we would like to welcome you to the 2018 Central New York PGA Junior Golf Tour.  The CNY PGA Junior Golf Tour was created to provide affordable, competitive events for junior golfers, further develop the quality of junior golfers in the region and to encourage sportsmanship while promoting the rules and etiquette of the game. As you review the 2018 schedule , you will see that the tour is set to visit some of the finest facilities across the Section.  We will play a number of events, beginning in April and ending in mid August.  Players will earn points in each of the first 12 point events they participate in, with the top 21 boys ages 16-18, top 21 boys ages 14-15, top 12 boys ages 12-13, top 9 boys ages 9-11, top 21 girls ages 12-18 and top 4 girls ages 9-11, earning a spot in the final event of the season, the Tour Championship. CNY PGA Junior Tour Player's of the Year crowned at

Cortland Country Club

 

 Over 70 Juniors battled on two different courses for this years 2018 Junior Tour Championship. The 2018 Player of the Year battle was some of the closest yet. After two great days the following individuals were recognized as Player of the Year.
